Meet the Grant Funded School Counselors
Samantha Smith
Project Director
Samantha currently resides in Cheshire. She graduated from Central Connecticut State University with her Master's in School Counseling in 2013. She received her Bachelor's in Psychology from Southern Connecticut State University. She has been working with youth of all ages for the past seven years in Cheshire and Wallingford and is very excited to be joining the Southington team!

Kathryn Parker
Grant Counselor
Kathryn currently resides in East Haddam with her family. She graduated from Syracuse University with a Master’s degree in Counselor Education and received her BA in Psychology from Utica College. She is currently starting a certificate program in Autism Studies at UMASS Lowell.
Kathryn has worked for the East Haddam School district for the past ten years. First, as a substitute teacher grades K-12 and later as a teacher assistant. Kathryn is very excited to be co-teaching the Second Step program is both Deryonski and Kelley Elementary School’s.

Sheryl McDonough
School Social Worker
Sheryl earned her undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Relations and her Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Connecticut. She has worked with children and families for over 20 years, predominantly as Coordinator of the Family Resource Centers in New Britain and East Hartford. She looks forward to meeting and working with the students at Plantsville and South End.

Shari S. Maltby, LMSW
School Social Worker
Shari graduated from the University of Hartford with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and the University of Connecticut with a Master of Social work. She has worked with children and families for many years the City of New Britain before joining our team. She lives in Canton and is excited for the new school year.

Kathleen Bond
Grant Counselor
Katie currently resides in West Hartford with her family. She graduated with her Master's degree in counseling from the University of Saint Joseph and received her Bachelor's Degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Connecticut. Katie has experience counseling children of all ages. Katie has ten years of experience in education and counseling roles as well as experience with special education and behavior intervention. Katie is so excited to join the Southington school community!

Jessica Anthony
Grant Counselor
Jessica received her Master’s in school counseling from the University of Saint Joseph in 2009. She has worked as a substitute elementary school social worker, a special education paraprofessional and has worked on a grant servicing schools, families and communities for special education and transition throughout CT. She is thrilled to be a part of this collaborative!
